Deacons: Adding another puzzle piece to God’s family
In 1 Timothy 3:8–16, Paul’s instructions about deacons reveal something important about the entire church: godly character and a heart for service are essential not just for leaders, but for everyone who belongs to God’s family. Deacons are called to be worthy of respect, grounded in the gospel, proven in service, and faithful in their homes. Yet these qualities are not reserved for a select few. As members of God’s household, every believer is called to grow in Christlike character and use their gifts to serve others. Ultimately, the church does not belong to its pastors, deacons, or members—Jesus Christ is the head of the church. When each of us finds our place and faithfully serves under Christ, God fits the pieces together to display a beautiful picture of His family and His gospel.
