Church Plant Story

In the fall of 2012, an appeal was made to the elders of Gospel City Church (formerly Harvest Bible Chapel Granger) in Granger, IN to plant a church in Berrien County, MI. Several families from Berrien County had been traveling to Granger for church because of Harvest Granger's emphasis on strong Biblical discipleship, preaching, and worship. This led to a time of prayer and consideration for the elders in Granger to seek the Lord about planting a church in the St. Joe, MI area.  After a season of prayer, Harvest Granger began holding 'Vision Meetings' in Berrien County and searching for a pastor to plant a church in St. Joe.

After almost four years of praying, God led Jamie Maxim and his family to accept the call to plant a campus of HBC, Granger in St. Joseph, MI. In May of 2016, God opened the door for us to meet at the Benton Harbor-St. Joseph YMCA.  Three months later, on September 11th, 2016, we officially launched as a campus of Harvest Bible Chapel, Granger! From the beginning, Harvest Granger's desire was for the St. Joe campus to eventually transition into an autonomous local church. Two years after our first service as a campus of Harvest Bible Chapel, Granger, the Lord brought the details together to allow us to become Harvest Lakeshore.

The Story Continues…

In May of 2019, Lakeshore Baptist Church in Stevensville voted to become part of Harvest   (see God at Work video above) and gifted us their building.   We are excited to be one faith family seeking to bring Glory to the the Lord Jesus Christ.

Today, Jesus is fulfilling the promise He made in Matthew 16:18: “I will build my church and the gates of hell will not prevail against it.”  Our mission at Harvest Lakeshore is to make disciples...who make more disciples. We are burdened as a church to plant disciple-making churches in places where the gospel is not being preached.  We have had front row seats to watch Christ build His church in Berrien County (and beyond). We hope you join us as God continues to show His unwavering faithfulness by growing his body of believers here at Harvest Lakeshore.
